Content Overview

1. Psychosocial Integrity
It introduces students with ways to provide comfort and care, promote well-being and physical health, manage health alterations of clients and reduce risk potential for them.
​ Physiological Adaptation
The potential nurses learn to provide care for patients suffering from acute, life-threatening or chronic ailments. It covers a wide range of topics, including Fluid and Electrolyte Imbalances, Unexpected Response to Therapies, Medical Emergencies, Basic Pathophysiology, Alterations in Body Systems, etc.
​ Reduction of Risk Potential
Aspirants learn to reduce the risk of developing health problems or complications related to diagnostic tests, treatments and medical procedures. The content includes Therapeutic Procedures, Diagnostic Tests, Potential for Complications from Health Alterations and Surgical Procedures, Potential for Alterations in Body Systems, Laboratory Values, Abnormalities/Changes in Vital Signs, and Potential for Complications of Treatments/ Diagnostic Tests/Procedures.
Pharmacological Therapies
Students learn to monitor patients and administer medications. The content comprises Expected Actions/Outcomes, Pharmacological Pain Management, Medication Administration, Contraindications/Adverse Effects/Interactions/ Side Effects, Dosage Calculations.
Basic Care and Comfort
It teaches students about how to assist the patients in managing health alterations, and provide care and comfort. It comprises Nonpharmacological Comfort Interventions, Mobility/Immobility, Nutrition, and Oral Hydration, Assistive Devices, Personal Hygiene, etc.

2. Health Promotion and Maintenance
Nursing students are provided knowledge on early detection and prevention of health problems. The content includes Community Resources, Developmental Stages and Transitions, High-Risk Behaviors, Aging Process, Ante/Intra/Postpartum, and Newborn Care, Self-care, Lifestyle Choices, Health Promotion/Disease Prevention, Data Collection Techniques, etc.

3. Safe and Effective Care Environment
This coursework is sub-categorized in the following two learning areas:
​ Safety and Infection Control
It covers Reporting of Event/Incident/Variance/Irregular Occurrence, Least Restrictive Restraints and Safety Devices, Security Plan, Error/Injury/Accident Prevention, Handling Hazardous and Infectious Materials, Emergency Response Plan, Transmission-Based Precautions/Standard Precautions/Surgical Asepsis, Home Safety, Ergonomic Principles, and Safe Use of Equipment.
Coordinated Care
The potential nurses collaborate with the healthcare team to provide adequate patient care. The coursework includes Resource Management, Collaboration with Interdisciplinary Team, Establishing Priorities, Concepts of Management and Supervision, Client Care Assignments, Information Technology, Advance Directives, Continuity of Care, Confidentiality/Information Security, Client Rights, Ethical Practice, Referral Process, Informed Consent, Legal Responsibilities, Performance Improvement (Quality Improvement), and Advocacy.

4. Physiological Integrity
The coursework focuses on instilling knowledge about social and mental well-being of clients, and includes Grief and Loss, Support Systems, Coping Mechanisms, Mental Health Concepts, Abuse or Neglect, End-of-Life Concepts, Crisis Intervention, Sensory/Perceptual Alterations, Religious and Spiritual Influences on Health, Chemical and Other Dependencies, Therapeutic Communication, Therapeutic Environment, Cultural Awareness, Stress Management, and Behavioral Management.
